Sarah Vonsattel

Violinist Sarah Crocker Vonsattel is a member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, where she has performed since 2008. Based in New York City, she maintains an active and versatile career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer. Her solo appearances include performances with the Classical Tahoe Orchestra, Syracuse Orchestra, Coastal Symphony of Georgia, musicians of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, among others.

An avid chamber musician, Ms. Vonsattel performs regularly at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall with the Met Chamber Ensemble. She has appeared at prestigious venues and festivals such as the Manchester Music Festival, Parlance Chamber Concerts, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Dame Myra Hess Concert Series, Prager Center for the Arts, Classical Tahoe, and Bargemusic, among many others. A founding member of the Verklärte Quartet, she was a Grand Prize Winner of the 2003 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, leading to tours throughout the U.S. and Italy.

Dedicated to contemporary music, she has collaborated with ensembles including the iO String Quartet and the Talea Ensemble and can be heard on Bridge Records performing works by Poul Ruders and Tod Machover.

Ms. Vonsattel has served as both performer and faculty member at international festivals such as the Orfeo International Music Festival (Italy), Wellesley Composers Conference, and Musical Friends Academy (Tunisia). She regularly coaches advanced students preparing for professional orchestra auditions and has taught students of all levels. Before joining the Met Orchestra, she held positions with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Colorado Symphony.

Ms. Vonsattel holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Master of Music from the Juilliard School.
