Jihye Jang

South Korean soprano Jihye Jang is a first-year Graduate Diploma student at The Juilliard School, where she studies with Darrell Babidge. This season, Ms. Jang performs the role of Lucia in Juilliard Opera’s production of I due timidi. In the 2025–26 season, she made her role debut as the title character in Ferruccio Busoni’s Turandot with Mannes Opera at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.

Her honors include First Prize at the Venice Opera Competition, semifinalist recognition at the Washington International Competition, the Albert Sherman Memorial Award at the Opera Index Competition, and the Dr. David DiChiera Encouragement Prize at the Premiere Opera International Vocal Competition. She was also a New York District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and received the Grant Award at the Giulio Gari Competition in New York. Additionally, she was a finalist at the Viotti International Vocal Competition in Vercelli, Italy.

She has been a scholar of the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation since 2020 and continues to receive its support. Ms. Jang holds a master’s degree from Mannes School of Music and a bachelor’s degree from Korea National University of Arts.
